VISIT 2008 is the initiative of fifteen artists’ studio organisations in Dublin. On Saturday 19th and
Sunday 20th April, over 150 visual artists living and working in the city will open the doors of their
professional practice studios for VISIT 2008.
Ever wondered what artists’ studios look like?
Curious to find out?
Offering a snapshot of artists working across a wide range of media including printmaking, painting, drawing, sculpture, glassmaking, ceramics, video, film, photography, installation and conceptual art, VISIT 2008
celebrates the vibrancy of Dublin’s visual art scene. Throughout the city, artists’ studios are dotted and
clustered in unusual settings: faded Georgian buildings, renovated stables, urban warehouses, an old mill, a hidden gem above a car salesroom, dormant council flats,
an old firestation and a state of the art studio complex.
VISIT 2008 is the second VISIT event and the number of studios and artists opening their doors to the public has dramatically increased. VISIT 2008 will take place across two days, with half of the studios opening on Saturday
and the other half opening on Sunday. We wish to encourage the public to make their own way around to the various locations or, if preferred, there are options for
tours on both days to facilitate the visiting experience.
Supporting the artistic communities in the heart of the city is important for the cultural pulse, energy and vision of Dublin City. VISIT 2008 gives you the chance to see for
yourself the creative spaces often unseen by the public.
Come and experience the diversity.
